There
are several definitions of rich and poor in this world, someone say that money
make a man rich. Some say friend circle can make man rich.
But,
what I saw, compelled me to define a new way of rich and poor with my personal
experience.
In
urban area of Jalandhar, Punjab, We have the
facility of Milkmen, who provide milk by traveling from rural areas to the city
on regular basis.
There
are some giant brands working as milkman in Punjab,
but several small farmers are also trying to survive in Milk Industry.
They
travel on their bikes, tempo and smallest on the cycles. So, by their traveling
medium, you can somehow estimate their earning from their sale of milk.
Why
I am telling all this, because the incident is revolving around a poor milkman.
We
were coming out of our college in Jalandhar. At the gate, a gathering was
present in front of the college. I went there to see what happened.
At
that spot, I saw that the milk was flowing on the road and that milkman was depressed
and eyes were wet and he was cursing the Car Owner, who hit the milk man and
run from there, a common act, by anyone here, where no-one take responsibility
of their own.
Suddenly,
a group of poor guys, clothes were telling their status helped the milkman to
sit on the side of road and they silently asked him about the loss incurred to
him. What I heard was may be Rs. 1,500/-.
And
then, they suddenly started collecting marginal amount from all the members of
their gangs and when they all donated upto their capacity, they started
collecting from the rest of people gathered there.
I
was shocked to see that they collected Rs.1,200/- within 5 minutes from all of
the gathering.
But,
there I get the definition of rich and poor from the heart.
The
guys who collected money from their friends are known to me and they all are from
poor to middle class families and yet they collected 1,200/-. On the other
hand, a group of guys, who come to college in Audi hadn’t dared to give even a
penny to them, even they spend 1,000/- daily in college canteen.
